How do I give you proof of that? Even with my legit copy installed I still don't want to update it because my other computer started going hella slow after updating all the windows stuff. This computer works so fast and stuff, the only problem is this crashing.

You can show a screenshot of a successful activiation done via windowsupdate.microsoft.com for example, with next to it a window on GWG showing you logged in as "Chocobo1". Info on activation:

I seriously doubt that, if you're talking about SP3 for XP.

Ae its true. I don't trust the windows updater thing at all. I'll work on getting that screenshot sigh to be honest this is kinda sad. All I really wanted is a fix to my game, not a rage at something out of my control.

If you don't like using the windows update service (I hate it too, it's too slow to use) you can just go here http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx and manually locate and download security patches and updates. If you install xpsp3 after downloading the whole 316MB package here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en (not the crappy little package that gets the rest from the internet during the install) you'll only have maybe 5 updates to manually install afterwards from the security bulletin page, and you'll have saved yourself a ton of time over getting those things from windows update.
Although it seems like a hassle, it's way better for you to have legal windows installed in the long run so that you don't get viruses and keyloggers and stuff dumped on you just from having the internet plugged in. Updates are your friend, you don't want to not be able to get them.
<COLOR=red> Rahja Edit:</COLOR> You will still need to verify the copy, so this isn't a workaround. Don't think it is.
Yeah I know it's not a workaround, pirating stuff is a bad idea and that's why I said real windows is good. He sounded unhappy about how windows update is going to take a long time after he buys windows, I was telling him how to get his updates faster after he installs real windows. I am well aware that SP2 and newer disables pirated windows, people cry to me about it all the time and ask for free windows and I say NOOOO and tell them to go spend $90 and do updates.

The problem is that your Windows is an illegal copy, and something in the file system has corrupted itself. That is making your game not play properly. Thus, a legal copy is the fix for this.
And this is en elite fansite, with many views. Talking about illegal software is looked down upon quite a lot. That being said, we are not targeting you specifically. This is a policy for all users, special users, moderators, and admins.

Heh I'm just posting to say I have this issue too, right after I 'upgraded' my PC to a quad core running Windows XP (SP3) and a GeForce 8800GT 1024. Additionally, sometimes Guild Wars causes my PC to freeze (not being able to ALT-F4 or do anything other than reset my rig) and thus not write a crash log as to what's going on. During the freeze, my sound loops (like the buffer is played over and over again).
I did a memory check as I suspect that was the problem: I have 4GB RAM installed on a 32-bit Windows XP, so Windows doesn't handle all of the 4GB. I figure that's what ticked Guild Wars off, so I'll be removing 1GB and see if it works accordingly.
Alternatively, if it's not the memory I would really think it's either the video card/drivers, or perhaps the network adapter (integrated in my mobo): I can run other 3D games just fine, although they are played either in LAN or offline mode.

There's ways around that bouvrie, if you want to use all 4 GB of RAM. As long as you have Windows XP Pro. But that's another story.
Anyway, /voted for close, since the issue was "resolved."

Yeah, I was just saying that I seem to be having related issues, even without StarForce drivers installed. So if the problem returns, it probably never was gone to begin with.

Holy shit I think this is the freezing issue I've been having since the Dragon Festival.
I can't tell because my Guild Wars fails to provide me with a Gw.txt error log while it hangs, since it never actually "crashes". I know I have StarForce on my PC (one of my dad's games uses it, and therefore I can't remove it because the game req's it.), so I can't be sure if this'll fix it or not either. I'll remove it later tomorrow and see if that fixes it, then readd them for my dad...
=(
